- Entry K00844: The KEGG ORTHOLOGY (KO) database is a collection of manually defined ortholog groups, called KOs, that correspond to the nodes (boxes) of the KEGG pathway maps or the nodes (bottom leaves) of the BRITE functional hierarchies. Each KO entry is identified by the unique identifier called the K number ('K' followed by five-digit number). Genes in complete genomes are assigned the K numbers both computationally and manually. The KO system is the basis for linking genomic information to higher-level systemic functional information through the processes of KEGG PATHWAY mapping and BRITE mapping.
- The KEGG PATHWAY database is a collection of manually drawn graphical diagrams (KEGG pathway maps) and associated text information (KEGG pathway entries) representing molecular pathways for metabolism, genetic information processing, environmental information processing, other cellular processes, human diseases, and drug development. Each pathway is identified by a five-digit number preceded by one of: map, ko, ec, rn, and three- or four-letter organism code.
每个路径图由2-4个字母的前缀代码和5位数字的组合标识
- map: manually drawn reference pathway
- ko: reference pathway highlighting KOs
- ec: reference metabolic pathway highlighting EC numbers
- rn: reference metabolic pathway highlighting reactions
- <org>: organism-specific pathway generated by converting KOs to gene identifiers
